First Corinthians

"God's Word to a Troubled Church"

The Church has set this year to honor St. Paul, and we are offering a guided study in one of the crown jewels of the New Testament. Corinth was a Church in tension with its apostolic authority and with divisions among its believers: the more "orthodox-minded," the more "progressive spirituals," and the various charismatics. It was beset by sexual scandal – struggling with issues of morality, worship, unity, and freedom. All this was being lived out by an infant Christianity against the backdrop of a rough and burly commercial hub. Here is a letter which speaks in a special way to the Church today – and in some of the most beloved passages in Scripture.
