Jeremiah
"The burden of a prophet's power / Fell on me in that fearful hour" — John Greenleaf Whittier
Among the great prophets of the Old Testament, Jeremiah wept for the sins of his people and the terrible judgment coming upon them. He wept for their outrages against the God who loved them and patiently endured their many reproaches and abuse. Called as a young man, he spent decades of his long life proclaiming God's message to a people who refused to hear. He saw God's awesome truth and had to speak out. For a covenant relationship with God requires from us true faith and complete obedience. Thus, Jeremiah speaks urgently and pointedly to us today!
